About

I have a mind that is always ready to learn, and one that is never scared to jump straight into the weeds of any problem or job to learn its ins and outs, something I have done time and again throughout my educational life.

I first pursued communication at Butler Community College where I earned my associate degree in mass communications and served as a reporter and the advertising & distribution manager for their student newspaper, the Butler Lantern. While at the Butler Lantern, I covered the daily news and events of the college, and notable stories I covered during my time included a political battle between the college, the city of Andover and the Kansas House of Representatives member Kristey Williams, a visit from Roger Marshall before he announced his candidacy for US Senate, and a lawsuit from a former professor.

During my time at Butler, I also spent a semester as a reporter and production staff member for the BCTV Channel 20 student-run show, Campus Edge. And I spent another semester as a tutor ambassador for Butler’s tutoring lab, tutoring fellow students in English and math. It’s also where I discovered my drive to help others succeed and learn, something I always try to do wherever I go

Once I graduated in 2019, I briefly served as a freelancer for the Butler County Times-Gazette newspaper covering local news and sports in-between my time at Butler and Wichita State University. I stepped away from the role after I started at Wichita State so I could perform my best in my education.

I refocused my education while attending Wichita State and chose an emphasis in integrated marketing communication so I could broaden my skillset and continue challenging myself. While pursuing my degree, I worked in the Elliott School of Communication’s Shocker Ad Lab working for clients inside and outside of the university, including the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Friends of the Wichita Public Library. I was also a media intern for the Fairmount College Dean’s Office during the same semester.

Since then, I’ve graduated from Wichita State with my Bachelor of Arts in communication in 2022 and am now part of the university’s Strategic Communications department as its newsletter editor.
